    Somerville Partners' approach to executive assessment for selection or development is grounded in our proprietary instruments, our extensive database of executives in high performing organizations and our experience with behavioral interviewing.


    Our process enables organizations to assess areas that are not easily uncovered in a typical interview. We measure the talents and traits an executive brings to a job, as well as the beliefs, attitudes, and values that predict leadership behaviors.

Overview

When assessing candidates or developing leadership, our approach focuses on your business' unique strategy and practical imperatives. Somerville Partners comprehensively assesses a firm's strengths, weaknesses, and challenges, and benchmarks it against high performing organizations. Initially, individual and team interviews with executives, focus groups of representative employees, and key decision makers are conducted, followed by the administration of Somerville Partners' High Performance Organization Survey (HiPerOrg®) to all employees.

Background

Fewer than 15 percent of companies address leadership succession planning. In the case of mid-cap and smaller companies, the number is smaller and the urgency is likely greater. Typically, solutions have been somewhat superficial and tactical. The need for a systematic solution can be ignored only with increasing risk. Boards, owners, and senior managers demand a comprehensive, clear, and practical approach to this enduring problem.

Overview

Most mergers and acquisitions are undertaken for financial and market reasons, but over 60 percent fail to realize the promised shareholder value due to leadership and cultural reasons. Somerville Partners' M & A Integration works with businesses to avoid these risks by building strong integrated leadership teams, identifying integration priorities, and addressing strategic, cultural and structural challenges. We begin by understanding the business goals and the desired market synergies. Process

Somerville Partners M & A Integration is based on comprehensive and rapid assessments that can include in-depth interviews, leadership team assessments, and focus groups. When feasible, organizational assessment surveys are administered. The assessments form the basis for integration priorities and interventions.
